Solid brass Brusso hinges
An emerald cut shape
on a beveled foundation, the box is cherry dyed black,
thus the color is in the wood not the lacquer finish
which is clear.
The artwork is derived from an
antique Japanese lacquer box from the Meiji era (1800's).
The
flower and grass design is built up lacquer with an
embossed effect that stands above the surface, but
the artwork is under the hand polished eighteen surface
coats of lacquer and thus will not fade with age.
Interrior bottom is burgundy ultrasuede.
Hinges are 95 degree solid brass
Brusso hinges so that top remains upright when open.
The underside of the top is vaulted
in the inverse shape as the top side. Dimensions are
12” x 9” x 5-1/2 high. |
